New 1940nm for Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)

It has become a well-known minimally invasive alternative to treat saphenous vein reflux. Several wavelengths have been proposed: 810, 940, 980, 1470nm are the most commonly used. However, experts are still discussing about which is the most appropriate wavelength. 1940-nm Tm-fiber laser has significant results in EVLA thanks to more selective energy absorption in water (no carbonization) and consequently it is possible to use a strongly reduced power setting. It can represent a promising method in the latest treatment of varicose veins.
