Photodynamic therapy
630nm laser for dermatological lesions and oncology
The photodynamic therapy is a minimally invasive medical treatment which consists in using a photosensitizing drug, which is activated by a laser light. The aim of these procedures is to activate the oxigen mollecule of the photosensitizer to selectively destroy the diseased cells.
This new therapy has been proven effective in treating precancerous cells and certain typs of cancer (for example basal-cell carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma), as well as some dermatological diseases difficult to treat such as hidradenitis suppurativa or anal fistulas. Laser wavelength and photosensitzer must be as suitable as possible to guaratee the maximum level of light absorption by the drug to achieve the desired photochemical reaction.
